FAQ
Short answers. If yours is missing, email from the support page.
What is Up2Reset?
A native macOS menu bar app for people who sit too long while coding, designing, writing, or studying. It times a work block and covers every screen when you should stand up.
I launched it. Where did the window go?
There is no Dock window. Look at the menu bar, top-right, for the timer. If macOS is hiding extra items, drag it out of the chevron. Step-by-step: How to use it.
Does it collect my data?
No. Settings, notes, today’s counts, and reports stay on this Mac. No account. No analytics SDK. Privacy policy.
Does it need Accessibility permission?
No. Do not grant it. Idle detection reads the system idle clock. It does not install a global key or mouse tap.
How is this different from Stretchly, Time Out, or Apple Watch Stand?
Stretchly is Electron. Time Out is a peer in the same job. Up2Reset is native Swift, a full-screen overlay on every display, and local-only data. Watch Stand rings count standing hours; they will not cover your IDE when you are 90 minutes into a diff.
Why does the App Store say Up2Stretch?
That is the live listing name (1.2.1). Same app: bundle id com.tool.Up2Stretch, Apple ID 6447865036. This site uses the Up2Reset brand. 1.3.0 is in App Store review and will rename the listing to Up2Reset; purchases and bundle id stay put.
What macOS version do I need?
macOS 14.6 or later. Older copy that says 13.2 is stale.
What is in Pro?
Any work interval, any break length from 1–60 minutes, extra skip/warning options, keyboard and mouse idle detection, and 7-day, 30-day, and this-year reports on disk. Annual or lifetime, both via Apple. Restore purchases in Settings → Pro with the same Apple ID.
The overlay hit me the second I sat back down.
Reading and watching still count as sitting — that is the point of the hard timer. If you actually left, pause first, or turn on Pro idle detection. Sleep and lock already pause the free timer.
Can I skip a break?
Yes. Skip postpones the overlay; it does not delete the rest of the day. Default delay is 10 minutes. Pro can tune this.
Can I change the overlay background?
Yes, since 1.2.1. Pick an image and opacity in Settings so the countdown stays readable.
What is in 1.3.0?
1.3.0 is in App Store review, not on the store yet. It renames the listing to Up2Reset, adds a bedtime reminder (click Not Now and it will not cut your current focus), menu bar scratch notes, optional 3-second hold on Skip / I moved, and extra languages (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish). None of those are Pro-gated.
Will my reports follow me to a new Mac?
No. Everything is local. There is no iCloud sync on purpose.
How do I quit?
Open the menu bar panel and click Quit. Live 1.2.1 still says Quit Up2Stretch; 1.3.0 says Quit Up2Reset. Closing Settings does not quit the app — it is a menu bar accessory.
