Up2Reset

Sit too long.
The screen goes dim.

Up2Reset lives in the Mac menu bar. When you disappear into work, it covers every display and asks you to stand up, stretch, and reset.

Free to start. macOS 14.6+. No account. Live listing is still Up2Stretch 1.2.1. 1.3.0 is in App Store review and will rename it to Up2Reset.

Time to stand up and move

05:00

Stand up, stretch your body, and take a deep breath

Skip I moved

System sit reminders are easy to ignore. A covered screen is not.

macOS can ping you. You swipe it away and keep typing. Up2Reset is for the hour you forget you have a body: it dims every monitor, counts down a short break, then gets out of the way.

  1. You start a work block. The timer stays in the menu bar, not the Dock.
  2. A system notification can warn you a couple of minutes early, if you want it.
  3. Every screen is covered. Stand up. Stretch. Write one line about what you were doing, if you use work notes.
  4. Confirm you moved. The overlay closes. The next block starts.

What it actually does

  • Menu bar timer Pause, Resume, Restart Timer, and see today’s work time and break count without leaving the app you are in.
  • Full-screen overlay on every display Including extra monitors. Hot-plug a screen mid-break and the overlay rebuilds instead of vanishing.
  • Skip, then get called again In a meeting? Skip. It comes back after a short delay instead of disappearing for the afternoon.
  • Sleep and lock pause the clock Close the lid or lock the Mac, and the work timer waits. You should not be punished for leaving the desk.
  • Work notes on the overlay One line: what you were just doing. Useful when the next sitting block starts and your brain is empty.
  • Launch at login A sit reminder that you have to remember to open is not a sit reminder.

In 1.3.0

In App Store review. Download today and you still get 1.2.1. These are in the 1.3.0 binary, not behind Pro.

  • Listing name becomes Up2Reset Same app, same bundle id com.tool.Up2Stretch, same purchases. Only the store name changes.
  • Bedtime reminder Optional. Click Not Now and it will not cut the work session you are in.
  • Menu bar scratch notes Jot a quick interim task. It can prefill the overlay work note when the break hits.
  • Hold to confirm Skip / I moved Optional 3-second press so a stray click does not dismiss the overlay.
  • More languages English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish.
